Wander + Explore

A personal little guide to experiencing the mountain.

On the Lake

  • Arrowhead Queen Tour Boat — One of the loveliest ways for visitors to actually experience Lake Arrowhead. The narrated boat tour departs from the Village and takes guests out onto the private lake while sharing local history and stories. Tour runs by the hour you can purchase tickets for the Arrowhead Queen Tour Boatin person at LeRoy’s Boardshop, located dockside at Lake Arrowhead Village, right near where the boat boards.

  • McKenzie’s WaterSki School — A longtime Lake Arrowhead tradition offering water skiing, wakeboarding and private cruises on the lake.

  • Lake Arrowhead Village — Wander along the waterfront, browse the shops, grab something sweet or enjoy lunch overlooking the water. This is also where you’ll board the Arrowhead Queen.

Favorite Walks + Hikes

  • Heart Rock / Seeley Creek Trail — About 1 mile each way and relatively easy. The trail follows Seeley Creek through the forest to the naturally formed Heart Rock and waterfall. A sweet little adventure and especially nice for families.

  • Will Abell Memorial Trail at Arrowhead Ridge — A beautiful forest hike close to Lake Arrowhead, with tall trees, a bit of climbing and lovely mountain scenery.

  • North Shore National Recreational Trail — Approximately 1.7 miles each way and moderately difficult. A peaceful forest hike on the north side of Lake Arrowhead.

  • Pacific Crest Trail / Deep Creek — For guests wanting a little more adventure, the famous Pacific Crest Trail passes through the Lake Arrowhead area and follows spectacular Deep Creek Canyon. You can make your hike as short or ambitious as you’d like.

  • Heaps Peak Arboretum — A slower outing. Its nearly one-mile Sequoia Trail winds through native mountain plants and forest and passes a grove of giant sequoias. The trail itself is free; a recreation pass is required for the Forest Service parking lot.

A Little More Adventure

  • SkyPark at Santa’s Village — Not just for Christmas. The forest adventure park offers mountain biking, hiking, climbing, archery, zip lines and seasonal activities.

  • Wildhaven — A local wildlife sanctuary in nearby Cedar Glen where visitors can learn about native mountain wildlife, including rescued animal ambassadors.

  • Scenic drive along Rim of the World Highway — Pack a coffee, take your time and enjoy one of the prettiest drives through the San Bernardino Mountains.

  • Take a drive to Lake Gregory — Head down toward Crestline for another mountain-lake outing, especially nice combined with the Heart Rock hike.

  • Antiquing + treasure hunting — Spend an afternoon wandering the little antique, vintage and thrift shops scattered throughout the mountain communities.

  • Simply wander the neighborhood — Some of the sweetest moments here require no itinerary at all: take a morning walk beneath the pines, admire the old mountain cottages, listen for the blue jays.
