Little Something from the Kitchen
Our cottage is home to a fully functioning antique stove, and she is ready to be put to good use. There’s something rather special about preparing a meal on a stove with a little history of her own.
If you feel inspired to cook, you’ll find pans tucked neatly inside the drawers of the antique stove, while our Dutch ovens can be found beneath the kitchen counter cabinet to the right of the stove.
I’ve also left a few of my favorite cookbooks for you to peruse, should you feel a little adventurous and want to make something wonderful while you’re here.
And, of course, every good meal begins with a few good provisions. If you need to make a quick run we’ve gathered a few of our local spots nearby for fresh essentials, to enjoy during your stay.
Jensens Foods ~~ 27264 Hwy 189, Blue Jay, CA 92317 This beloved local market offers fresh produce, quality meats, pantry staples, prepared foods, and a thoughtfully curated selection of wines and specialty items—perfect for gathering everything you need for a cozy meal at the cottage.
Cedar Glen Fine Foods ~~ 211 Ca-173 Lake Arrowhead, Ca 92352 (13 minute walk from cottage). You’ll find fresh produce, pantry staples, snacks, drinks, wine. Their deli counter also offers a selection of freshly made sandwiches or something simple to enjoy back at the cottage.
Cask and Cure ~~ Located in Lake Arrowhead village is a lovely stop to pick up a bottle of wine, beautiful cheeses, charcuterie, and a few special things to bring back to the cottage. Perfect for putting together an easy evening of grazing by the fire or enjoying a leisure picnic in our garden area.
Stater Brothers ~~ Located in Lake Arrowhead Village. A convenient stop when you’re looking to stock the cottage for a few days. You’ll find everything from fresh produce, meats, and bakery items to pantry staples, prepared foods, and those little necessities you may have forgotten to pack.
