THE BATHROOM
9. Antique Bathroom Fixtures
The bathroom features original antique spigots. The left handle is hot and the right is cold. They may require a firm turn when opening or shutting off.
After showering, please place the mat provided on the floor beside the tub to help absorb any water.
THE KITCHEN
10. There is also a stone sink with vintage spigots. The hot water is on the left and cold on the right. The hot water is regulated, and the fixtures may require a firm turn when opening and closing.
Our Antique Stove
The kitchen features an antique stove, so please take a moment to familiarize yourself with it before cooking.
To ignite the burners, push the pilot in before igniting.
The stove and oven run quite hot. The oven typically runs 30–50 degrees warmer than the temperature indicated. If you would like to bake at 350°F, we recommend setting the oven to approximately 300–325°F.
For the most accurate temperature, you’ll find an oven thermometer hanging from the pot rack. Simply place it inside the oven while baking to check the actual temperature.
The oven is on the right side, with a door that opens up and down. Please remove any bakeware or baking sheets stored inside before turning the oven on.
You’ll find bakeware and baking sheets, All-Clad pans, cast-iron pans, and a small boiling pot in the kitchen drawers.
There is no exhaust fan, but you’re welcome to open the top portion of the Dutch door and/or the windows while cooking to allow the cottage to air out.
11. Brown Hutch
The brown hutch next to the stove is stocked with everyday essentials, including spices, olive oil, coffee, tea, sugar, and pancake mix—you’ll just need to add milk.
You’ll also find linen placemats, drying towels, wax paper, aluminum foil, and extra kitchen towels/paper products.
12. Kitchen Storage
The cabinets beneath the main kitchen sink and countertop are organized for easy access:
● Left side: Dutch ovens and pots
● Next: Coffee maker, filters, and coffee supplies and coffee grinder.
● Next: Pull-out trash can
● Center: Cleaning supplies, trash bags, dish-drying rack, and drying mat
● Right side: Hand mixer, toaster, colander, air fryer, mixing bowls, storage bowls, measuring cups, and other kitchen essentials (please note we do not have a microwave or dishwasher).
The drawers from left to right contain cooking utensils, knives, and everyday cutlery.
13. Glass Cabinet
The wall-mounted glass cabinet holds an assortment of coffee cups, creamers, small bowls, and glassware. Please help yourself.
14. Green Grand Cabinet
The green grand cabinet is one of our favorite pieces in the cottage. Inside you’ll find an eclectic collection of plates, glasses, cups, cake stands, platters, and more. At the bottom of the hutch on the right, you’ll find a stack of blue-and-white plates that we love for everyday use. Please feel free to reach for those if they’re easier to grab.
Closet upstairs in the Gold Haven room has extra pillows and fans for each room upstairs.
Please tinker around. We hope you enjoy discovering all the little treasures tucked throughout the cottage.
AIR, WINDOWS & THE MOUNTAIN
15. Air Conditioning & Fans
The cottage has central air conditioning. The thermostat is located on the wall to the right, just before entering the kitchen from the living room.
We’ve also placed a fan in each bedroom for warmer evenings which can be located in the upstairs closet in the Gold Haven Room.
If you prefer to enjoy the mountain air instead of using the air conditioning, all of the windows have screens and can be opened to let the fresh air in.
16. Windows & Screens
If you open the windows, please be sure the screens remain securely closed at all times. This helps keep our little forest visitors outside where they belong.
FIREPLACE
17. Brick Fireplace
If you’d like to enjoy the brick fireplace, we’ve provided firewood and fire starters for your first fire.
For everyone’s safety, the fireplace screen must remain in place whenever the fireplace is being used. Never leave a fire unattended, and please make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving the cottage or going to sleep.
PARKING & ARRIVAL
18. Parking
The driveway accommodates a maximum of two vehicles, with tandem parking. Please note that the driveway is sloped, so always engage your parking brake when parking.
If you prefer, you may park directly across the street in front of the cottage.
When parking across the street, please do not park at the far end near our neighbor’s home—to the left of the cottage when facing the front of the house. That area is reserved for our neighbor.
BEACH & LAKE ACCESS
19. Beach Chairs & Towels
Beach chairs are located in our storage closet in the Honey Room and beach towels are in the hallway closet next to bathroom.
20. Lake Trail & Beach Areas
21. If you choose to explore the lake trail or enjoy one of the small beach areas tucked along the way, please be sure to carry your required lake pass with you at all times, as passes are actively enforced.
We ask that all passes be returned to the cottage after use. A $125 replacement fee will be charged for any pass that is lost or not returned.
. A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT OUR FOREST FRIENDS
21. Food & Trash
Because Le Miel is tucked among the trees, we share the neighborhood with some very curious forest friends.
Please never leave food, trash bags, or other food waste outside the cottage, even for a short period of time. Be sure all trash is placed inside the appropriate covered waste bins before leaving it unattended and at night place the bin cords. Trash can are located to the ight of the Dutch door next to the dining area.
QUIET HOURS & HOUSE RULES
22. Quiet Hours
Please be mindful of our neighbors and keep noise levels low, particularly in the evening. No loud music or excessive noise after 10:00 PM.
Le Miel is intended as a peaceful cottage retreat, so large gatherings and parties are not permitted.
23. No Smoking
